PICTURED Fr. Emmanuel Chukwujekwu

” I am Fr. Emmanuel Chukwujekwu, a priest of the Religious Order of the Holy Family Fathers and Brothers of the Youth, originally from Nigeria. I was ordained to the Sacred Priesthood on the 24th of July, 2021. In October 2022, I was sent to serve in this country, beginning my ministry as a Parish Vicar in the Diocese of Shrewsbury, where I worked for one year. In September 2023, I was transferred to the Diocese of Salford to work with Canon Michael Cooke, the first Vicar General of this great diocese. I served there faithfully until October 2025, when I was asked to take charge of this lovely parish, a mission I joyfully embrace with gratitude and commitment.”

CHURCH CLEANING at St. Osmund Tuesday, December 9th at 10am.

BAPTISMS Please speak first to Father Heakin after Sunday Mass. Parents must attend mass before a date can be agreed for baptism. Baptism preparation meetings take place once a month on a Wednesday evening at 7pm. The next meeting will be in new year.

SERIOUS PROBLEM: For a long time there were no buildings next to the hall since they demolished the school. Then they built new houses and they are very close to the hall. The first time we played music there, they rang up and asked us to turn the volume down. This has happened again, so I don’t know what the answer is . The walls of the hall are thin – no insulation to deaden the sound.

PARISH FOLK GROUP will play the guitars at 5.30 mass on Saturdays in 2025: November 22nd, December 13th.

S.V.P. MEETING To be arranged with Fr. Emmanuel.

SOCIAL COMMITTEE next meeting is on to be arranged with Fr. Emmanuel. 2025 At 6pm.

FORTHCOMING EVENTS for 2026 decided by St. Osmund social committee. Flatcappers concert. Irish dancing display with maybe an Irish dance night. Bolton Hospice fundraising night. Fish and chips some Friday lunch time. Coach trip—maybe to Skipton market which is open on Fridays. Hall is available for hire (as long as you don’t make too much noise and make the neighbours complain!!)

DIOCESAN ALMANACS £5, only a few!

ST. TERESA SALE OF LAND They have done a survey – mining, health and safety, gas monitoring, chemical soil testing, asbestos quantification, on the land at back of church and found a few issues. There was a pond there and the builders doing the racecourse estate dumped all their waste materials in it instead of disposing of it all properly. Asbestos has been found so it will devalue the land a bit .

THANK YOU! Fr Heakin would like to thank everyone for all the cards and gifts which he has received, he has been very sad to leave and has enjoyed his time with all of us. Fr Heakin has every confidence with Fr Emmanuel taking over and working with us all.
